Comments from LG:

I agree for the most part with Rick's comments and would add that Marlen is a most engaging host and very interesting personally apart from his system and very impressive record collection. His thoughts and experience are well worth hearing even those some of us may disagree with.  The utter clarity of his sound was breathtaking. His digital sound was extremely good.. His IC's and speaker cable are worth investigating.

On vinyl we heard a lot of sonic blockbusters, direct to disc and the like and they were very impressive and that is worth repeating very impressive, even revelatory...Louis will probably have more to say about these being, I think very familiar with some of the material.  The jury may still be out for music, possibly because we did not hear much. I would urge the round 2ers to choose some musically interesting records.    I would love to hear this system with a warmer cartridge as Rick has suggested and I reserve judgement on piano reproduction until more examples are heard than the Byron Janis Rachmaninoff.

Comments from LT:

Marlen is a super friendly guy with amazing knowledge about many tweaks, albeit some unconventional. While I am usually not a tube guy. His system sure impressed me enough that I can easily live with a tube based system that sounds as good as Marlen's. For most of the jazz and direct to disc LP's that he played, I also have a copy at home. However, I have to admit
that I never heard them as nicely as last night. I find that jazz seems to do better on Marlen's system. Lots of PRaT, air, dynamics and I did not find the bass flabby on jazz. The acoustic bass from the Eiji Kitamura Japanese Direct to Disc LP was most impressive and tight. The Byron Janis piano did not sound as good as jazz, not sure why. What the hell, no system is
perfect, but Marlens' system has plenty of magic. One I can easily live with.
