The Sonus Faber Cremona M you see here recently replaced the Revel Salons.   Wilfred had considered the Wilson Sophia initially, but guess who talked him out of the Wilsons ?

If I have to choose between a big open room, vs a dedicated but smaller sound room, I'd choose the former.

With a big open space, one will not be faced with a lot of the problems associated with small dedicated rooms such as bass boom and room resonance.      Wilfred's system is setup in a big open space, down in his basement.  It is a superb sounding system without as much low end as can be expected from a enclosed room.  Sadly, time constraint has forced Wilfred to sell his analog rig.  I hope he'll get back into it down the road.

  Wilfred's Comments:

" I would describe the sound as just a touch on the warm side.  The system throws a deep soundstage with precise imaging.  Vocals and strings sound spectacular.  Lots of air and bloom with the AR LS26.  Noise floor is very low, mainly because of the equipment, and perhaps the Equitech 2Q may have an effect as well.

I listen mostly to jazz, rock, R&B and some classicals.

Changes down the road ?  Learning about room acoustics and treatments (have been playing around with Asher's Real Traps).  I might look into changing amps, not because I'm unsatisfied with the Rowlands, but only cause I'm sick and always need something new to play around with.

Also looking at getting a Benchmark USB for my Music Server/Squeezbox."

You gotta give credit to MOON for making these amazing chassis.  The whole thing is made out of  extruded aluminum.
