Stereopal Home Visit:       Kayson                                                                                                                      Sept 6, 2005

Small but great sounding, Aurum Cantus speakers……...

Kayson is dear friend of mine.   He has relatives who are in the Audio Industry, which makes it easy for him to have access to a good number of audio equipments.

Kayson has a dedicated audio room in his main floor.  The room isn’t large at all by audio standards, but the sound staging I heard in his tiny room is beyond my expectations for a room this size.

He enjoys a variety of music from Jazz to Classical.   Two of his favorite titles are: TIME OUT TAKE FIVE with Dave Brubeck, and 12 Golden Oldies by Chinese singer Chin Tsai (Choi Kum)

Kayson’s Comments:

General:

I believe the strength of my system lies with its level of detail and clarity.   My system has both attributes and at the same time, it is not bright sounding.    This is very difficult to achieve.  Although I have heard some people have suggested a tad of brightness, perhaps this could be attributed to the silver cables which I am using.

I have a relatively small room so I cannot use larger speakers.   The down side to this is that my system tend to be a little bass shy.

Future Changes:

Perhaps I may upgrade to an SACD player.

Tweaks:

I have played around with a number of room acoustic treatments.   My have a sound dispersion panel behind by cabinet which used for reducing standing waves.   Various panels and foam boards also helps.

JAS Audio Power Amplifier with 845 & 300B Tubes.

Beautiful looking CD player, sitting on dual layer heavy duty absorption panels.

The mirror like finishing on the E-Sound components are as beautiful as some of the Symphonic Line Equipments.

Chinese Ming Da amplifiers are coming on strong.  Their products are improving day by day.

Aurum Cantus Leisure 2SE, the finishing on it is unbelievable.

The first Power Conditioner from China I have ever seen.

Nicely constructed.

Extensive use of sound traps and dispersion devices.

Another close up shot.   12 layers of Piano Lacquer.
